Do you have questions about this site for the webmaster?

The MotherLode holds an array of adventures for everyone, young and old alike. We have outlined a few of the many adventures below. If we can be of assistance in organizing your adventure choices, please let us know.

Of course a visit to the Columbia State Historic Park, our local living museum, is on the list. Here you can experience the life and times of the 1850’s to 1870’s, the entire town is frozen in time. Climb aboard an authentic stage coach or climb on a horse for your tour of town.

Watch candy being made at Nelsons Candy Kitchen or dip your own candle at Columbia Candle and Soap works. Afterward enjoy dining at the famous City Hotel.

If you’re more of the adventure seeker, white water rafting excursions are just around the bend. Ever do any rappelling? Moaning Cavern, just minutes away, can satisfy that urge. They also have spelunking and incredibly beautiful walking tours as does Mercer Caverns in Murphys.

We are a short distance from one of the more popular ski resorts in the Sierras; Dodge Ridge. They offer outstanding skiing for beginner and expert alike. So if swishing down a mountain is all you live for, check out Dodge . . . You’ll be back for more, for sure.

For those of you less inclined to thrills and chills, might we suggest a picnic beneath the world’s largest and oldest trees at Big Trees State Park. You’ll be inspired and awed.

Play a round of golf at your choice of several championship courses, fish the shores of our lakes, rivers and creeks or pan for gold. Tour the nearby visitors center at New Melones Lake. In addition to educational displays they can tell you about the old days when the only residents were Native Americans. We also have several award winning winerys and microbreweries.

After your days’ excursion you’ll be glad to come home to COLUMBIA, Gem of the Southern Mines where you can relax and unwind at any of the hotels, motels and B & B's. Perhaps uncork that new bottle of wine you had every intention of taking home.

Most of all, have a great time and remember, your memories are golden . . . this is where to find the GOLD.
