Do you have questions about this site for the webmaster?

COLUMBIA, Gem of the Southern Mines is a real town. It is located in about the middle of the Golden Chain of 1849'r towns just 2 miles north of Sonora.

We are located between San Francisco, Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park. The State of California owns the historic part of our town better known as the Columbia State Historic park where the major mode of transportation is still the stagecoach. While the State Park, a living gold rush town, remains the major draw for tourists world wide, the surrounding area has become a favorite destination for other reasons as well.

Columbia's historic charm, friendly faces, temperate climate and natural beauty have attracted many visitors to "unplug" here for a few days. Once here, you'll discover more. Fabulous restaurants, museums, the finest local theatre companies, musicians and artists in California as well as the full complement of businesses that you might desire to make your visit complete.

This Summer discover Columbia for yourselves. It's like "swinging on an old tire from a strong tree limb..." -Iris Quinn Hucabee
